Our constitution allows us to make discretionary donations to good causes.
A reasonable [monetary] balance shall be built up and maintained to enable Rood Food to optimise its purchases. Any ongoing surplus will be distributed to environmental, welfare or rights organisations or campaigns at the discretion of the [Co-ordinating Group].
The decision is taken at the AGM, following the Treasurer's report. Possible recipeints are suggested by members and voted on. As a result, over the last few years we have supported:
- Mayfield Nurseries - gardening for better mental health
- Southampton and Winchester Visitors Group - helping asylum seekers
- St Denys Church - Community Activities - lunch club for older people, and other community activities
